On the 8th of May, we were proud to co-organise the Conference on Accounts Receivable in Local Government together with our sister law-firm, Hugh J Ward & Co Solicitors, and Ascendas Business Solutions in collaboration with Credit Management Institute of Ireland (CMII).
Held at the Bloomfield House Hotel in Mullingar, the event brought together over 50 attendees from 23 Local Authorities, with strong representation from across the county. This was our third conference on this topic for the public sector, and it was a great opportunity for professionals in local government to come together and explore practical solutions, sector-specific challenges, and innovations in revenue collections.
Conference Highlights Included:
- Legal frameworks and compliance updates
- Case studies from local authorities and telecoms sectors
- The role of technology in driving efficiency
- Strategies for managing complex collections cases
The agenda was shaped by insights from a brilliant panel of speakers:
- Jack Cooney, Former Westmeath Player & Manager, GAA’s National Player Development Lead
- Seán MacMahon, Executive Director, Credit Management Institute of Ireland (CMII)
- Paul McMenamin, Senior Executive Officer, Donegal County Council
- Eimear McDermott, Area Manager, Donegal County Council
- Gerry Connolly, Managing Director, Ascendas Business Solutions
- Hugh J Ward, Group CEO, The Ward Group – CMOS Ltd and Hugh J Ward & Co Solicitors
- Dara Kiernan, Owner, KPI Consulting Ireland
- Shay Waldron, Director of Credit and Billing, Magnet+
Their contributions sparked discussions and valuable knowledge sharing throughout the day.
We’re already looking forward to future events that continue the conversation and support the local authorities in the area of debt collection.
A big thank you to everyone who attended, contributed, and helped make the day such a success.
